Outcasts United
“Outcasts United,” the Hesston College First Year Experience common read for 2013-2014.

After months of hard work and preparation, Hesston College and the FYE Scholars are excited to announce that Warren St. John will be speaking at Hesston Mennonite Church this Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Extending Home: Stories of Migration and Transformation is the FYE theme for the year. St. John’s book, Outcasts United and this year’s common read, was a great representation of the theme. The common read is read by students, faculty, staff, and local community members and is a part of the discussion campus wide. Outcasts United follows the transformation of an American-educated Jordanian woman, a quiet southern town, and a talented group of refugees as they extend their ideas of home and, in doing so, experience mutual transformation.

To learn more about Warren St. John and Outcasts United, please join us Thursday Sept. 19 at 7:00 pm at Hesston Mennonite Church. Along with Warren St. John’s presentation, Bel Canto will perform and FYE scholars will present as well. Following his presentation, St. John will be signing present to sign his book. There will also be refreshments from Lincoln Perk and Salted Creamery.
