Basketball Season Underway, Big Plans For Both Teams

By Trey Greening

The Basketball season has begun, and with new freshman taking the court, big changes for these teams are highly expected.

For the men’s team, they were off to a fantastic start.

The team was undefeated 3-0, having big wins against Ottawa JV, Bethel JV, and Next Level Prep Academy.

Their first loss was against Butler, and it was a significant margin, with the score being 90-67.

December has hit and they have had impressive wins against North Central Missouri College and McPherson JV in the past two games which will hopefully propel them going forward in the month of December.

The team stands at a record of 7-7 after a win this past week and looks to add to the win column on Saturday, December 8th as they take on Central Christian College JV.

As for the Lady Larks, their season has started a bit slower than expected.

They got a win against Bethel at the beginning of the season, and just got their second win this past week.

Sophomore Essence Tolson is trying to help the Larks to build some momentum as she has had some spectacular games this season. Having a large amount of freshman this year could one of the reasons for the slow start as they are learning the speed of college play.

“Sometimes it can be a little stressful,” she said, “I feel my expectations are higher sometimes but that’s alright. I like rising to the occasion.”

They are looking to get their third win this Thursday against Sterling JV.
