The Hesston volleyball team soared to a victory at their scrimmage Wednesday night against the McPherson Bulldogs, winning every set except one. Sophomore Casey Perez feels confident about her team.

“I think for the first time playing together in that lineup I thought we meshed really well together and we have a really good support system from the bench, as well as when we’re playing together we support each other,” she said. “I think if we keep working hard and work on our fundamentals and do the little things right we have the potential to be a really successful team.”

In Saturdays home games they made a statement. Winning the first game against Friends University in three sets (25-14, 25-19, 25-19). In another three set win (25-15, 25-19, 25-12) they defeated Kansas Wesleyan University making them 2-0 to kickoff the season.

The Hesston women’s soccer team got off to a fine start in their first game against Cowley College on Saturday, winning 2-0.  No team was really in control of the game until the freshman Allison Ebersole nailed the first goal in the 19th minute of the game. From then on the Larks showed dominance on the field. Tuesday we will see if the ladies can continue their winning streak against Neosho County Community College (Chanute).

The Men’s soccer team lost in their game against Cowley College Saturday afternoon. The score was 6-1 with freshman Leonardo Arruda giving them their first and only point as a result of a penalty kick. Despite the untimely loss they have a chance to redeem themselves in their game on Tuesday, also against Neosho County.
