Larks take advantage of Wichita concert venues

By Marta Jantzi

Director of Theatre Rachel Jantzi is no stranger to the stage, but the one she found herself near on Thursday night was at Wichita’s Intrust Arena, not Hesston’s Black Box. Jantzi found herself face to face with Slash himself, as Guns N’ Roses took center stage only feet away from Jantzi and her husband.

“I love live music!” Jantzi said. “Guns N’ Roses albums came out when I was in my middle school and high school years and I thought it would be a fun shot of nostalgia. This concert was great, they may have been older, but they still rocked. Axl still had his distinct voice, and Slash the lead guitarist was incredible. Intrust arena was packed and it was a great vibe.”

Freshman Tannah Tilley grew up in Wichita, so she’s also no stranger to the venues. She also has some family connections that have paid off, with getting the chance to attend this concert event every year. The last concert she attended in Wichita was a private performance from Thomas Rhett, a country singer and songwriter.

“My step dad was working it and he was able to get me a ticket and it was so much fun and a really cool experience to be very close to the stage with there only being 200 people at the concert,” Tilley said. “I’m a big country music fan so I really enjoyed it.”

In the upcoming three months, there are many concerts that will be coming to Wichita, here are just a few of the events;

  • Cats the Musical • North American Tour, Oct. 14-16
  • Randy Houser, Oct. 17
  • Miranda Lambert, Elle King, Pistol Annies & Ashley McBryde, Oct. 26
  • The Chainsmokers, Nov. 16
    • Lennon stella, Nov. 16
    • 5 Seconds of Summer, Nov. 16
  • Lana del Rey, Nov. 16
  • Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Dec. 6
