Students bring exciting life stories, diverse nationality, and prized possessions to college. College is hard and sometimes it helps to have things from home with you. Have you ever wondered what college students bring to their college dorms? Check out what these students brought from their home!
Lexi Boone, FR (Colorado) - “A monkey-shaped piggy bank. It is from my grandfather. He got it from Hawaii. Inside there are coins and the only way to take the inside is to break it.”
Laurine Yeboah-Appiah, SO (Ghana)- “Sandal from home. This sandal makes me remember home because it gives the vibe of my culture.”
Navy Widyani, SO (Indonesia) “I brought a traditional fabric from Indonesia, and I brought some seashells from the beaches in Indonesia.I feel like I’m still a part of the things back home when I see these things in my room, and it reminds me a lot of home. If I wear the fabric and see someone else in the fabric, it helps me connect with home.”
Natalie Ladd, FR (Hesston)- “I brought a drawing that my little sister, Ava, and I made to remind me of her and my home.”
Sari Nakazawa, SO (Japan)-“ Family picture and letters are two items that remind me the most of my family. Everytime I read this letter, I feel like I would cry. I miss home so much.”
David Flores Cano, SO (Honduras) “I brought coffee and an outfit from home. Drinking the coffee reminds me of home. I also brought a flag and a bandana.”
Tom Tien Lo, SO (Taiwan) “I played since I was junior high. This saxophone has been with me in every competitions and concerts so this reminds me of my good memories with my friends in Taiwan.”
Benny Thawng, FR (Myanmar) “I brought this shirt from my home and it reminds me of home because it has my flag on it and everytime I see the flag I remember the memories I had back home.”
Karen Audreyella, JR (Indonesia) “I am a foodie. I brought a lot of foods from Indonesia because the one thing I miss the most from my country is the food. Chili sauce reminds me of home the most.”
Muskan Budha Magar, SO (Nepal) “I brought a traditional dress from my tribe, Magar, which is unique only to my tribe. It makes me feel like I am home and when I wear it to culture fair and I am proud of it.”
